The clouds continually passed over the sun as Claire prepped for her groom with her best friends.  Most, if not all, of her bridesmaids were roommates with Claire at some point during their University of Texas years.  This bond made my time with them fun. It made it unique. Because when asking them to smile, laugh or hold hands and walk together, they did it so eagerly and comfortably, because they all were heart friends from the beginning.  Each and every one of them was just as sweet and friendly as they could be, but I couldn’t have been surprised. After all, a friend of Claire’s is a sweetheart in my book.  I met Claire for the first time on her wedding day, but I felt like I’d known her for years once I did.  She and Peter met the best of friends during their undergraduate years at UT, and they were all present to celebrate with them.

Rewind about 4 years. Peter met Claire at a Young Life camp that they were both involved with at the University of Texas.  Like anyone who would meet Claire for the first time, he was drawn to her beautiful smile and sweet demeanor.  Little did he know that sweet blonde would be his sweet wife just a few years and several Young Life events later.  The way he made her smile brighten, and the way she made him lose his breath as she walked down the aisle—both were priceless.

Their wedding took place at Claire’s family Poco Loco Ranch.  The venue was incredibly beautiful with it’s magnificent trees and rustic feel.  The touches of blush and floral arrangements were lovely to match her lace keyhole back wedding dress.  Leave it to their Young Life friends who made the dance floor lively and their sparkler exit unforgettable. The Royal Dukes Band played their best under the night sky, and once all the dancing had been danced, cakes had been cut and garter had been tossed, Peter took Claire hand in hand. With a smile from ear to ear, Mr. and Mrs. Mahoney walked down the longest sparkler exit line I’ve ever photographed.  It was almost overwhelming how many friends and family they had send them off with so much excitement.  And to top it off, fireworks sounded as he dipped her with a kiss midway through.  I’d be lying if I said it didn’t take my breath away. It was truly magical!

And their day was jus that.

I left the Mahoney wedding with such a full heart.  I enjoyed the people I met, adored the couple I photographed and loved the wedding they called their own. Congrats Peter and Claire! What a beautiful wedding day!
