I was completely in love with Jake and Ellen’s love story by the end of their wedding day. After getting to know Ellen over coffee and seeing her sweet spirit on the day of her wedding, how could one just not adore her? She’s as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside. Obviously, Jake has known this all along. The way he looked at her as she walked down the aisle. The way he kissed her hand during their first dance. The way he held her. You can see the love in his eyes and the joy in Ellen’s smile. This atmosphere made our job so amazingly exciting.
At our last consultation, I thought it was the cutest thing what Ellen said she was most nervous about. Ellen has a history in theatre, so much of her life, she’s been rehearsing plays. I had never thought of it this way, but Ellen said it was just bizarre for her to not rehearse one of the most important events of her life. But this was not a play. Oh, no this was real life.
Ellen secretly hoped that she would see a tear trickle down Jake’s face when she walked down the aisle toward him. Knowing that ahead of time, when I saw him start to get emotional before she had even walked down the aisle, I was all in. I’m such a softy, guys. I just love getting wrapped up in the emotion and experiencing the excitement with my couples. Jake’s reaction was absolutely priceless. I think it’s safe to say Ellen couldn’t have rehearsed an event that turned out so perfectly.
I fell in love with winter weddings after photographing the details that Ellen included in her spectacular day–her shawl, cascade bouquet, the winter greens with a touch of cranberry. It was magical. Guests couldn’t wipe a smile off their face the entire day as they laughed, danced and celebrated Ellen and Jake. I’m quite positive Mr. and Mrs. Winter walked away from a perfect wedding day. I know Jordan and I sure had a blast.
