The clouds rolled in as the sun was shining down on the New Mexican desert landscape. Chelsea and her bridesmaids relaxed at her Gram’s house with a mimosa in hand and their makeup lovely. They looked at each other with genuine smiles as the sun backlit their hair beautifully for some “getting ready” photos. As soon as Chelsea walked down the aisle to Gabe’s sweet, genuine smile, the rain sounded. However, the timing of the rainstorm wouldn’t have been more perfect for their wedding day.
They vowed to love one another forever in front of their friends, family and God at the beautiful San Jose Parish Church. Thunder rumbled and smiles were exchanged between guests, but as soon as they walked down the aisle as husband and wife, the rain ceased, the skies were overcast and beautiful, and it didn’t bother the Mr. and Mrs. one bit. It only added to the beautiful story of their wedding day. From my viewpoint, I actually adore shooting in overcast lighting, because it acts as a soft-box over the sun. You’ll see! Gabe romantically dipped Chelsea in front of the church as it sprinkled on us only slightly, and they stepped into their limo together to head to their reception.
The reception began at the National Hispanic Culture Center where the DJ and a game of corn hole kept the guests entertained. Chelsea had me in awe with her incredible beaded dress and beautiful veil. She truly glowed in it! Chelsea, her mom and sister put so much time and love into planning the details of her wedding day. Mrs. Gallegos made Chelsea’s guarders and included lace from her own wedding dress. I love sweet fingerprints on details such as these! I also loved the natural touch for their guest book. Guests signed their names on circular wooden pieces and dropped them in a glass shadowbox to be displayed alongside one of their engagement pictures.
Of the many sweet moments throughout the day, one that stood out to me was how strong and sweet of a relationship Chelsea has with her sister, and MOH, Cassie. Just like Chelsea was a go-getter and involved at Cassie’s wedding just a few months ago, Cassie did the same for her sister. Their toasts were emotional, and their joy for one another was obvious. I know both families couldn’t be more pleased to be gaining a new daughter and son-in-law.
Congratulations Gabe and Chelsea! We loved being a part of your wedding day!
