Mini Sessions, New Mexico Travel Dates and Workshop Dreams | Updates from LDP

May 16, 2016

Whew! Hey guys!

Like…really. Hey you, thanks-for-reading-this-wish-I-could-give-you-a-hug-for-being-part-of-our-support-team-kind-of hey there

It’s been quite the spring. Quite the year actually. Many of you know that we moved to Dallas from New Mexico this past July, and we started our careers. My husband Jordan is an ICU nurse at Methodist Dallas, and I’m a full-time speech pathologist in Richardson ISD and full-time wedding photographer, as well.

Needless to say, this last year was so crazy for us. We took on new jobs, bought a fixer upper and have been nestling and working on it since October. I think we like this crazy life though. I mean, when has life never been crazy for us? Sorry, Jordan! I think I add this to our relationship. ๐Ÿ™‚

But.

There’s a but. With all this busyness, I’ll be the first to tell you that I feel like I’ve been busy with things that aren’t priority for me. I clearly feel called toward community, time, availability, relationships and serving couples in a variety of different ways. I clearly see what I’m passionate about and what putting time toward purposeful things in my life should look like. And I haven’t been good at this.  I have my Power Sheets from Lara Casey to help with that for the future!

With that being said, I’m dreaming big.  I’m rearranging, reprioritizing and setting goals and boundaries. We have some big announcements we’ll be sharing with you all in the next few weeks. Announcements that have been decided in prayer, counsel and obvious opened and closed doors. Until then, I’m just dying to share with you some of our travel plans and dreaming that’s been cooking up over here. Because EXCITED!

New Mexico Travel Dates

Y’all, I get to spend a good 2.5 weeks back home this July, and it just makes my heart beat so fast thinking about it! I can’t wait! We envision walks on the farm, hikes in Las Cruces (hopefully on a cloudy, cooler day), Mexican food galore, more Mexican food, many hangouts and catch ups with dear friends of ours, and much more Mexican food. Catch my drift? Food, friends and family. We’re there!

So while we’re there, I’ll be booking mini sessions on Sunday, July 17th in Las Cruces.

I have a couple engagement sessions and mentor sessions while we’re in town, as well, so if you’re interested in a longer session than our 15-minute mini session, please email me soon, so that I can let you know of my availability. Because, like I said, priorities: we have plenty of time set aside for friends while we’re there too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hey, Artesia! We’re coming your way and offering mini sessions Sunday, July 24th.

We’ll be announcing locations once we arrive to these cities and are able to scout, but we can hint at more of a lush, natural setting.  So if you know where this is in this towns, let me know! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ll be making sure to spend time with friends and family while I’m home in Artesia, but I will have a couple evenings available for longer senior sessions or family sessions. Again, please email me to make sure I still have those time slots if you’re interested! I’d love to see you!

And lastly, but excitingly, I am dreaming up the details of another workshop.

Jordan and I hosted a few workshops geared toward more of a fresh-learning photographer who has all of the 90472 questions that come up when you’re…in that stage! The questions never stop, but they do ease up. Maybe you’re a blogger or a florist who wants to take their own photos. This could be for you. We also hosted a workshop for wedding photographers, as well. We learned that we love sharing. We love teaching; we love being able to teach others concepts that are so hard to grasp when you’re just sitting behind a computer or reading a blog. We’ve even blogged about our journey to owning our lenses here. For months, that’s exactly what I needed when I was starting out. And for us, being able to still follow and answer questions to these several photographers has been so much fun for us. To see their success, their joy and their lives being changed–priceless.

This past week I was in a meeting where a friend of mine was interested in learning more about photography. I told her (jokingly) to be careful, because if you get me started talking about photography, the likelihood of me stopping is very small.

And it was.

I caught myself going on and on, but what I also caught was how much I love being able to do this.

Since we moved here, we’ve had several people email about future workshops, but they’ve seemed so far off for where we’ve been in life. Well, our house is nearly ready to host you, our hearts are just as full or more than they were, and we can’t wait to answer so many of your questions and help get your businesses jumpstarted.

With that being said, we’ll have more information for those of you interested in a potential workshop. More details will be shared within the next month, but in the meantime, feel free to shoot us an email or share with a friend who you think this may bless.

Classroom time (in the living room with coffee, of course), application time over a styled shoot, an overview of Lightroom and Q&A–all condensed into one day. We want you to leave changed, inspired and confident.

I’m bursting at the seams! I just can’t wait for it all. Big dreams. Big changes. And we’re so glad you’re on board and with us. We feel it, and we’re so thankful for you sitting there on the other side of the computer screen. Whether you’ve been in front of my camera or not; whether you’ve commented on a post or met me us in person or not, we are so thankful for you right there!

Any who, with the craziness of our spring, blogging about kitchen renovations and updates around here have really taken the back burner, but come pretty soon, we’ll have a pretty snazzy kitchen to share with you all!

Until then, hugs friend!
