October 14, 2016
I’m not really sure how, but it’s been ONE YEAR since we signed the million papers, watched 2 million episodes of Fixer Upper and spent 3 million hours renovating our house.
All so much fun and so worth it!
We bought the house last October, renovated it after work every day and spent a good amount of time putting our fingerprints all over this house. We decided we’d move in at the beginning of December, because if you haven’t already learned this, fixer uppers take longer than expected (especially if you’re the contractor and designer!)! So we moved in in December with our mattress, Christmas tree and coffee maker. We literally slept in our house on a Friday with only a mattress, woke up the next morning to shoot a wedding and got to work right after! We had so much help from family with projects around the house, moving and bringing meals when we needed them most. It was so very appreciated!
Looking back at this whirlwind of a year, I seriously wouldn’t trade these memories. I’m honestly going to miss this “chaos” a little bit.
And here we are today, on the brink of finishing our master bathroom, in addition to the rest of our house. We only lack minor changes in our guest bathroom (and maybe some updates outside the house), and then we can rest on the big jobs/rooms. But I’m almost positive when it’s all said and done, we’re going to want another project or something to fix up. It’s been a thrilling adventure for us to walk through Lowe’s & Home Depot, scroll on Pinterest and plan together. I’ve learned so much about Jordan throughout the process, and if it isn’t obvious, it’s been a sharpening tool on our marriage at the same time. As much as it has been stressful on our marriage at times, it’s more so been growing and refining. I love trying and doing new things with Jordan–especially when his talents get to shine through!
He has gone above and beyond this past year, and his studliness is only more apparent to me. 🙂
Our second year in our house will bring about even more adventures that will add different kinds of stress but a more deeper joy: parenting 🙂 Here we go, year two! Year one was one for the books!
