Dear Jordan | An Open Letter To You Before Christmas, Before Baby

December 3, 2016

Last night I gave Jordan a gift that I had been so excited to give him. These past few weeks have been so up and down with emotions, stresses, joys and everything in between. Jordan and his dad are literally putting on the final touches to our master bathroom as I blog, and we’re cutting it pretty close to our baby boy’s due date. Let’s just say I’ve had my fair share of moments these past couple weeks worrying about the “what ifs”. When am I going to learn, people? Even if it wasn’t finished, ALL WOULD BE JUST FINE! It always is, and God’s timing is always best!

I was so excited for Jordan to open this gift, and when he did, his reaction was even better than I honestly could’ve imaged. I love this man. I can’t believed how many jobs he’s been juggling lately. He’s superman. Cue the sappy stuff:

Jordan,

It feels like just yesterday I was writing you a handwritten card explaining some really exciting news about our future and a baby. It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly 9 months since I wrote it. Since then, we’ve renovated a kitchen and a master bathroom. All while working full time as a nurse and taking time off to quench my travel and vacation desires.

You are a beast.

I can’t wait to see you hold our son for the first time. To watch you teach him how to kick a football, use tools, work with his hands, shoot a gun and about a million other things that you’re so good and handy at teaching and doing.

I can’t wait until he’s old enough to understand what a superman of a dad he has. How you had a full ride to kick at NMSU and graduated with a whole lot of knowledge, passion and 2 degrees. How you worked your first year and a half as a full time nurse and home renovator on our first house. How you’ve always been so gentle and sweet as a husband. I hope he gets all of the best traits from  you: hardworking, gentle, confident, intelligent, faithful, giving, willing, handsome, witty and athletic.

Jordan, you’re talented in so many ways. Sometimes I have to stop and remind myself just how many balls you’re juggling. You’ve done so much for our family. I really can’t wait to watch you become love being daddy. You will be the best. Just let the Lord lead you in how to be Dad, and you can never go wrong. I’m proud of you and love you dearly.

Here’s to beginning this next chapter in our lives…whenever baby boy decides to come!
