Tip #5: Understand that the distance between your subject and its desired background has a purpose. Did you miss Tip #1?  Tip #3? Or the intro to the series?   I hear it all the time. “Oh, I love that door, wall, mural, greenery, you name it”! My clients automatically start walking up as close to the […]

Tip # 3: Avoid posing a subject in direct sunlight. Did you miss Tip #1?  Or the intro to the series?   Well, hello! I’m raising my hand again here! This is something I did when I first started, because I didn’t know how to “find the light”. If you scroll to the bottom, I reveal […]

Tip #1: be aware of trees in the background You finally start to understand how to shoot in manual, you’re either nervous, starting to become comfortable posing clients or totally fine, because you know who your subject is, and the last thing you want to think about at this time is the composition and background […]

When I first started my photography business, it wasn’t a “business”. Heck, it wasn’t even a hobby.  At least—taking pictures of people wasn’t a hobby. To me, driving around in the country or taking pictures of new, pretty things was more my hobby. But ask me how to use my camera, and my stomach dropped. […]

I hear it all too often, “I have a nice camera, but I don’t know how to use it! What lens do I need?” Or, “what camera should I buy?!” These two questions almost stump me when someone casually asks them, because, if I’m being honest, it could take hours and hours to answer!! It […]

I am screaming inside! I’m so excited to have the time to invest into all the aspects of my business that I’ve always dreamed. One of those being: newsletters! I know these have been so helpful in the past to let New Mexico and Texas clients know about mini sessions and travel dates for us. […]

It’s about time we open up our home and our playbook to some fresh photographers who are eager to learn! […]

This time of year always gives me all the feels.  Like. I pinch myself.  Rewind… …a little over 3 years ago: Jordan and I had just gotten married on June 1, 2013 in my hometown of Artesia, NM where we had been putting all of our time into planning, creating and executing our dream DIY […]

Whew! Hey guys!

Like…really. Hey you, thanks-for-reading-this-wish-I-could-give-you-a-hug-for-being-part-of-our-support-team-kind-of hey there

It’s been quite the spring. Quite the year actually. Many of you know that we moved to Dallas from New Mexico this past July, and we started our careers. My husband Jordan is an ICU nurse at Methodist Dallas, and I’m a full-time speech pathologist in Richardson ISD and full-time wedding photographer, as well.

Needless to say, this last year was so crazy for us. We took on new jobs, bought a fixer upper and have been nestling and working on it since October. I think we like this crazy life though. I mean, when has life never been crazy for us? Sorry, Jordan! I think I add this to our relationship. 🙂

But.
